Is there a cardiodepressant effect of higher BMI on contractile force of skinned human fibers?

چکیده
Method Therefore we performed a study to examine the influence of BMI (3 groups: group I > 25, group II 25-30, group > 30) on the myocardial performance of skinned muscle fibers. Right atrial tissue preparations of 70 patients undergoing aortocoronary bypass operation (CABG, 48 patients, group a) and aortic valve replacement (AVR, 22 patients, group b) was obtained prior to cannulation and prepared for the experimental set up. The fibers were exposed to graduate increase of calcium concentration and the force values were recorded and stored by the associated computer program. The statistical analysis was performed with Pearsons’s correlation (SPSS, p < 0.05 significant).

Modulation of crossbridge kinetics by myosin isoenzymes in skinned human heart fibers.
Skinned fibers from the normal human heart with the beta-myosin heavy chain (ventricular fibers) revealed both a higher force generation per cross section and a higher Ca2+ sensitivity than skinned fibers with the alpha-myosin heavy chain (atrial fibers). The relation between isometric ATPase activity and isometric tension of atrial fibers was higher than that of ventricular fibers. Since the A...

Skinned fibers from the normal human heart with the f3-myosin heavy chain (ventricular fibers) revealed both a higher force generation per cross section and a higher Ca2' sensitivity than skinned fibers with the a-myosin heavy chain (atrial fibers). The relation between isometric ATPase activity and isometric tension of atrial fibers was higher than that of ventricular fibers. Since the ATPase-...

We compared the effects of the newer inotropic drugs, pimobendan (UD-CG 115 BS) and milrinone (Win 47203), on the electrical, mechanical and biochemical activity of intact and detergent-skinned preparations of cardiac muscle. Both of these agents increased contractile force of guinea pig papillary muscle preparations bathed under physiological conditions or depolarized with 25 mM K+o. The posit...
متن کاملEffect of creatine on contractile force and sensitivity in mechanically skinned single fibers from rat skeletal muscle.
Increasing the intramuscular stores of total creatine [TCr = creatine (Cr) + creatine phosphate (CrP)] can result in improved muscle performance during certain types of exercise in humans. Initial uptake of Cr is accompanied by an increase in cellular water to maintain osmotic balance, resulting in a decrease in myoplasmic ionic strength. Mechanically skinned single fibers from rat soleus (SOL)...
متن کاملPeroxynitrite induces contractile dysfunction and lipid peroxidation in the diaphragm.
Peroxynitrite may be generated in and around muscles in several pathophysiological conditions (e.g., sepsis) and may induce muscle dysfunction in these disease states. The effect of peroxynitrite on muscle force generation has not been directly assessed. The purpose of the present study was to assess the effects of peroxynitrite administration on diaphragmatic force-generating capacity in 1) in...
